Please contact the Student Records Office if you have any questions about the formalities surrounding your studies. This is the hub for all FAU student data.
The Student Records Office can help you with the following matters:
- Enrollment
- Re-registration
- Leave of absence and regulations (Application for leave of absence, Regulations on requests for a leave of absence from studies)
- Change of subject (Application for a change of subject)
- Health insurance for students and insurance certificate for enrollment
- Creating certificates showing the duration of studies
- Information about the semester ticket
Please contact the Examinations Office of the Faculty of Engineering if you have any questions about examinations or your transcript of records.
You need to actively register for all your exams (including re-sit exams) via CAMPO within the registration period of the respective semester.
You can withdraw from any exam (whether it is a first attempt or a repeat exam) until the end of the third working day (Monday-Friday, excluding public holidays) before the exam date. Within this period, you can withdraw from exams via the CAMPO portal without giving any reasons.
The Examinations Office at the Faculty of Engineering can help you with the following matters:
- Registration/de-registration for exams
- Illness/withdrawal: processing notification of illness for examinations and medical certificates
- Application for extension of the deadline for completing the degree program
- Information for issuing graduation documents
- Transcript/certificate issuance: Recording, updating, and issuing transcripts of records, interim examinations, and final degree documents
- Examination periods at the Faculty of Engineering
The FAU Language Center (Sprachenzentrum) offers a wide range of language courses for students, including German language courses for international students and advanced courses in academic English.
- Department of German as a Foreign Language
- German courses for students of all disciplines: during the lecture period, free of charge for FAU students
- Intensive course for German (outside the lecture period): during the semester break, subject to a fee
German language courses are obligatory for all CME students who do not have at least German language proficiency on level B2 at the beginning of their studies.
Students of the Faculty of Engineering who need counselling or support can contact the Counselling and Psychological center: tf-psychologische-beratungsstelle@fau.de.
Counseling can be held in German and English. The Counselling and Psychological center will treat you and your concerns with absolute privacy. The therapist has a duty to maintain confidentiality.
The Counselling Center helps with a wide range of psychological issues including:
- Exam and speaking anxiety
- Learning difficulties
- Procrastination and motivational problems
- Stress management
- Anger management
- Loneliness, low mood, feelings of guilt, anxiety, panic, self harm and suicidal thoughts
- Coping with a chronic illness or disability
- Relationship or family problems
- Identity problems; gender or sexual orientation issues
- Homesickness and problems in living away from family and friends
- Addiction and substance abuse
- Difficulties integrating into German university and society

The Writing Centre at the Language Centre is the place to come if you are looking for assistance in writing in German and English.
The Office of Equality and Diversity is the central port of call at FAU for everything to do with equal opportunities.

The women’s representatives of your faculty are also available for initial and referral counselling.
In case of sexual harassment and bullying, you can call the Women’s Emergency Hotline in Erlangen or Nuremberg, regardless of your gender.
The International Affairs team at FAU supports international students who are enrolled as degree-seeking students at FAU before, during and at the end of their studies at FAU.

The Family Service is available to provide advice on all matters concerning the compatibility of working or studying and having a family.
The Career Service is part of the Student Advice Center at FAU. The Career Service provides advice to students about working while studying, starting and planning a career. The service is also available to FAU graduates up to one year after graduation.

- Practical videos on applying for a job in Germany
- Individual career counseling and guidance
- Information for international students on working during your studies

The FAUcard is the multifunctional smartcard of FAU. If you have any questions about your FAUcard, please contact the FAUcard Service Office.
The Identity Management System (IdM) enables students to manage their digital identity throughout their studies at FAU.
At the beginning of your studies, you must activate your IdM account to gain access to FAU’s IT services:
- Email (FAUmail)
- Wifi and VPN
- Cloudspace (Network Folder and FAUBox)
- Helpdesk locations for students
